According to The Athletic, the Blues have agreed to acquire the services of English youngster Cole Palmer from the Citizens for a fee in the region of £45 million (R1 billion).
Mauricio Pochettino has expressed his desire to acquire more attacking talent before the transfer window shuts and while the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Ansu Fati were mooted as potential targets, it seems the Argentine tactician has settled on the Manchester native instead.
The 21-year-old attacker is a product of the Citizens' academy, having been at the club since he was seven years old, but following a bright start to the 2023/24 campaign, Palmer is now expected to call Stamford Bridge his new home.
He came off the bench and scored in the FA Community Shield against Arsenal, before starting and scoring City's only goal in their recent UEFA Super Cup victory over Sevilla.
The budding talent is also coming off a successful off-season with England's U21 side as it was his goal and assists in the semi-finals and final of the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship that helped the team ultimately capture the trophy.
