El Clasico has seen many world stars write the headlines, but a few African greats have also impressed for Real Madrid and FC Barcelona - here is a compilation of the best.

Africa's most decorated player, Samuel Eto'o, has played the most El Clasicos and according to our research, he remains the only African to score in the derby.
Here is the complete list of the greatest African stars in El Clasicos:
Samuel Eto'o (8 El Clasicos)
Eto'o was signed by Real's youth academy in 1997, but never made it to the first team and was eventually sold to Mallorca in January 2000. Following four seasons, he joined Barcelona for €24 million, where he had the most successful time of his career. Eto'o played in eight El Clasicos, scoring four goals. He won four derbies, drew two and lost two.
Yaya Toure (5 El Clasicos)
Toure joined Barcelona for €10 million from Monaco in 2007. He featured in five El Clasicos against their eternal rivals, losing the first two. But after Pep Guardiola took over in 2008, Barcelona won the other three El Clasicos with Toure in the team.
Mohamadou Diarra (4 El Clasicos)
The defensive midfielder was Fabio Capello's main transfer target in 2006 and eventually joined Los Blancos for €26 million from Olympique Lyon. He featured in four El Clasicos, winning three and drawing one. Real won back-to-back titles before he got injured in October 2008.
Emmanuel Adebayor (4 El Clasicos)
The Togolese striker joined Real Madrid for six months on loan in January 2011. During this short spell, he featured in four El Clasicos as a substitute but failed to score a goal. He was part of Mourinho's side that beat Barcelona in the 2011 Copa del Rey final, while they drew two and lost one of his other appearances against the Catalan giants.

Retired Cameroon international Njitap Geremi as well as Ghana star Michael Essien featured in four El Clasicos with Real Madrid, while Nigeria's Emmanuel Amunike and Cameroon's Alex Song played in three derbies for Barcelona.
