A hat-trick from Luis Suarez led FC Barcelona to a famous El Clasico triumph after thumping Real Madrid 5-1 in LaLiga at the Camp Nou on Sunday.
Barcelona started like a house on fire and opened the scoring in the 11th minute when some superb work by Jordi Alba saw him beating a few defenders before squaring for Philippe Coutinho to easily tuck the ball home from 12-yards out, 1-0.
Eight minutes later, Barcelona nearly doubled their lead when Arthur unleashed a powerful 30-yard shot, but Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made a fantastic acrobatic save to deny him.
On the half hour mark Barcelona did find their second goal courtesy of a penalty from Luis Suarez, who won the spot-kick after a VAR decision adjudged the striker to have been pulled down inside the box, 2-0.
Rafinha almost made it three for the home side two minutes before the break when he found himself in a promising position on the edge of the box, but he fired his stinging shot inches over the target.
The half ended with Barcelona leading by two goals.
Five minutes into the second half Madrid pulled a goal back following a goalmouth scramble inside the box which saw Marcelo pounce on the loose ball and fire home from eight-yards out, 2-1.
In the 56th minutes, Madrid came within inches of drawing the game level when Luka Modric stuck the frame of the goal from 14-yards out.
On the hour mark Barcelona also struck the woodwork when Suarez met a cross from Sergi Roberto, but his close-range volley hit the outside of the post.
Suarez made no such mistake in the 75th minute when he met a right-wing cross from Sergi Roberto and duly headed home from 14-yards out, 3-1.
Suarez completed his hat-trick in the 83rd minute when he broke through on goal and with just the keeper to beat, calmly chipped the ball into the back if the net, 4-1.
The icing on the cake for Barcelona was their fifth goal in the 87th minute when Arturo Vidal headed home a left-wing cross from Ousmane Dembele, 5-1.
Despite Barca's late quest for more goals, none would come, as the Blaugrana romped to a 5-1 victory against their arch rivals.
