Real Madrid defender, Álvaro Arbeloa, did not bite his tongue when asked about the Bernabéu possibly giving Lionel Messi a standing ovation should he become La Liga's all-time top goalscorer on Saturday.
It has been suggested that Messi will receive a special tribute at Bernabeu if he were to break Telmo Zarra's La Liga all-time record, but Arbeloa thinks his own teammate deserves the praise instead.
"We should give Ronaldo a standing ovation because he's the best player in the world," he told Marca.
"That's what the Bernabéu has to do."
The Spaniard also admitted that Barcelona might have a slight advantage having one extra day rest, but insisted his teammates will give it their all in the El Clasico.
"Barcelona have a small advantage, but we have to recover quickly and give it our all out on the pitch," he added.
Messi has scored 250 La Liga goals and overall 21 in previous El Clasicos, while Ronaldo has scored 192 La Liga goals and 13 in El Clasicos.
