Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero scored a second half header which saw Argentina get their Copa America campaign back up and running, as they beat Uruguay 1-0 in the Estadio La Portada.
'There Is No Formula To Stop Messi'
Argentina, who let a two-goal lead slip out of their grasp against Paraguay in the opening game, got back to winning ways, even though it wasn't as convincing as everyone hoped.
The first half didn't see many chances in front of goal, despite Argentina being the dominant in possession and territory.
In the 9th minute of the game Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria had a chance which he hit straight at the Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.
The first half saw Argentina get another chance in putting themselves ahead, as Lionel Messi crossed a ball to Aguero on the back post, but he couldn't get any pace on his header and knocked the ball straight at the goalkeeper.
The tournament favourites finally got on the score-sheet after the hour mark, as Aguero snuck in at the near post to head home a cross by his Manchester City teammate Pablo Zabaleta.
Uruguay created chances in the second-half, the best coming in the 90th minute when Álvaro Pereira played a ball in the box and Abel Hernández hit the ball near post only for the Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero to save.
Messi Frustrated With Argentina Collapse
The win leaves Argentina with four points from two games in atop of Group B. Paraguay sit in second spot also with four points after beating Jamaica 1-0 in the other match. Uruguay follows with three points, while Jamaica are already knocked out after failing to collect any points in the first two games.
