Chile got off to winnings ways in the Copa America, with goals from Juventus' Arturo Vidal and Napoli's Eduardo Vargas giving the hosts a 2-0 win over Ecuador.
Chile looked the far more superior side on Thursday, with Alexis Sanchez and co running at the Ecuador defence for most of the first-half.
Sanchez missed a good chance to put his country one goal ahead, and the teams went into the break all square.
The second half started just like the first did, with Chile dominance in midfield and attack.
However, Ecuador's Enner Valencia had a great chance on 53 minutes, but his effort missed the target.
The game was destined to change just after the hour mark, with Arturo Vidal slotting home a penalty, after he was brought down in the box.
Ecuador then had another great chance to hit the back of the net, but it was Valencia's header that only managed to upset the woodwork with nine minutes to go.
Chile put their final mark on the game, when substitute Eduardo Vargas latched onto a Sanchez pass to find the net.
