Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas and UEFA Champions League finalist Gianluigi Buffon did not cast a vote for the FIFA Ballon d'Or, and here's why.

Buffon snubbed the voting on purpose, or was permitted to not vote by Italy's football association, after the goalkeeper was not included in FIFA's initial 59-man shortlist for the award, according to Sky Sports.
The 37-year-old had a brilliant 2015, winning the domestic double and reaching the Champions League final.
However, he wasn't included on the shortlist, which outraged the Italian FA. As a consequence, both Italy's national team coach, Antonio Conte, and captain, Buffon, refused to partake in the voting.
Spain skipper Iker Casillas also did not vote, but it seems this was down to an admin error more than anything else.
It would have been interesting to see who the former Los Blancos shot-stopper would have selected between his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and longstanding opponent Lionel Messi.
However, Spanish newspaper AS has suggested that Casillas didn't vote because the Spanish football association failed to get the documents to him on time. Other reports claim he received the documents, but only on the day before the voting closed, and was unable to send them back in time.
FC Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, who was supposed to vote as Chile's captain, also did not make his mark, but why he did not do so remains unknown.

Some farfetched reports also claim that both Bravo and Casillas did not vote to show their disapproval with their friend Buffon's snubbing from the shortlist.
