Despite not losing any league matches so far in the Egyptian Premier League, there are believed to be concerns over the performance of the White Knights under the Portuguese tactician.
The 65-year-old was, however, eliminated by competition debutants Stellenbosch FC in the CAF Confederation Cup, and this could be a factor in the club’s scepticism regarding the continuity of their current coach.
According to Egyptian journalist Amir Hisham, speaking on Al Nahar TV, the White Castle’s board will meet later this week to discuss Peseiro’s future, and he also revealed that a majority of the executives would prefer to bring in a new coach.
Egypt and Zamalek legend Mido, who is a member of the planning committee, is believed to be in favour of keeping the former Nigeria and Al Ahly boss until the end of the season, while his fellow executive Hazem Emam has mixed opinions on retaining him until the conclusion of the campaign.
The same report alleged that the club have already begun drawing up a list of possible candidates to succeed the Portuguese when the 2024/25 campaign comes to an end.
