The Nigerian striker enjoyed a wonderful 2022/2023 campaign as his 26 goals and five assists guided Napoli to their first Serie A title since 1990.
While there were no international tournaments in 2023, Osimhen was a key figure for Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where he finished with ten goals.
Osimhen is the first Nigerian player to win the award since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999 and became the fifth different Super Eagles to win the award.
It was a big night for Nigeria as Asisat Oshoala picked up the 2023 Women's Player of the Year award.
The Barcelona attacker has now won the award for a record-extending sixth time in her career, beating out competition from South Africa's Thembi Kgatlana and Zambia's Barbara Banda.
