On Thursday, the Moroccan giants announced the arrival of the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss on a three-year deal following his tour of the club's facilities.
Hiring Mokwena shows the team's ambition to restore their status as one of the most feared sides in the Botola Pro Inwi after their sixth-place finish on the table in the latest campaign.
With 22 league titles, Wydad will be hoping to beat the likes of Raja Athletic Club and FAR Rabat to domestic silverware next season, and thy will also have dreams of once again qualifying for and competing in the CAF Champions League in the near future.
While more signings are expected at the Mohamed V Stadium, three deals were confirmed a while before Mokwena's arrival in Morocco this week.
Attacking midfielder Mouad Enzo, 24, joined Wydad from Fath Casablanca at the start of this month, while Mauritania international Bodda Mouhsine, 26, has also signed for Les Rouge from FC Nouadhibou.
Centre-back Ayman Dairani, 28, is another one of the club's acquisitions ahead of the coming campaign. The Moroccan arrived from Union Touarga, also on 1 July.

More business in the transfer window can be expected from Wydad, whose appointment of Mokwena seems to make their ambitions clear.
