NEOM SC of the Saudi Arabian second division were recently reported to be keen on landing the Bafana Bafana winger's services, with Al Ahly believed to be actively looking to sell the CAF Men's Interclub Player of the Year but yet to receive a satisfactory offer for the player.
A number of clubs are alleged to have expressed an interest in the Witbank native over the past few months, and NEOM were touted as the latest, but Ahmed Radhi, director of football for the Tabuk-based side, has pulled the curtain back on the reports.
Asked if the club were trying to sign the former Mamelodi Sundowns man, he told btolat: "What was said about NEOM's desire to sign Percy Tau is absolutely untrue, just rumours from the media and press."
While the signing of the South African seems unlikely, Radhi did confirm that they are looking to sign another star from the Egyptian Premier League, Zamalek's Zizo.
He emphasised that they are waiting on a response from the White Knights, and that there is likely to be a foreign acquisition even if the Egypt international does not join them.
"The offer is definitely still on, but in the end, it is up to the Zamalek club management," he added.
"The transfer period ends here on 12 September.

"Any scenario to sign a foreign deal is still valid, because there is a vacant place on the foreigners' list. In the end, we are trying to reach a good and logical technical addition to the team."
