CR Belouizdad have drawn three and lost once to open the 2024/25 league campaign, and currently languish in 13th place on the log.
In a bid to avoid any further setbacks, the club's chiefs made the call to fire French manager Corentin Martins following the poor start to the season.
The Algerian giants have now decided to replace him with a manager who is well-versed in the Ligue Professionelle 1, Abdelkader Amrani.
This will be the 69-year-old's second stint in charge of the Chababists, having managed the club between December 2018 and December 2019 too.
Amrani has won the Algerian Cup five times with five different clubs, including with Belouizdad in the 2018/19 season. He has also won the Algerian top-flight title before, doing so with CS Constantine the season before he first took charge of the Algiers-based side.
Winning the league will likely be part of his mandate given that Belouizdad finished as runners-up last season and were champions for three successive campaigns before that.
Mayo will be hoping he can establish his prominence under the new boss after a seemingly tough start to life in north Africa.
The Bafana Bafana international has played five times for his new club so far this season, but has failed to find the back of the net.

He will be hoping that will change in their next game when they take on rivals USM Algiers, who are unbeaten in the league so far after three matches and are third on the table.
