In doing so, Carnell's Philadelphia equalled a club record for most goals in a season opener, which was set back in 2023 with a 4-1 win over Columbus Crew.
This is Carnell's third job in the MLS, having been assistant manager New York Red Bulls while he also the head coach for St. Louis CITY SC during their debut season in 2023.
Carnell's charges will be back in Philadelphia next weekend when they host Cincinnati.
