Ronaldo To Al Ahly? Latest 'Revealed'

An Al Ahly chief has reportedly revealed the likelihood of the Egyptian giants signing Cristiano Ronaldo before their FIFA Club World Cup opener against Lionel Messi's Inter Miami.

Last Thursday, the draw for the revamped global club competition was conducted, revealing that the record African champions would play in the tournament's opening match against the Herons.

It is believed that the Red Devils are keen to reinforce their squad considerably before the commencement of the spectacle, with one of the names being linked to the Cairo-based institution being Ronaldo.

The 39-year-old is currently contracted with Al Nassr, but his existing deal expires at the end of the season.

It has been suggested that the Egyptian side could make a move for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner before the Club World Cup begins. However, an executive at the club claims that while they would love to recruit the Portuguese icon, they are unlikely to afford him.

"Any team would like to sign Ronaldo, because he is a big name and a football legend," the source told Kooora.

"But Ronaldo's name was not put on the negotiating table with Al Ahly, and the marketing and contractual value of the Portuguese star is very large."

"Ronaldo receives an annual salary with Al Nassr, which is several times the budget of the entire football sector within Al Ahly."

Should the Madeira native decide to leave the Knights of Najd and make the move to the Cairo International Stadium, he could set up a clash against his long-time rival Messi once again.
