In seven matches against Sundowns on the road, Al Ahly are yet to record a win while their last Champions League clash against the Brazilians ended in a 5-2 defeat in 2023.
Former Al Ahly star Ahmed Bilal has given the reigning champions tip on how to get a positive result.
"There are two ways the team is supposed to play against Sundowns. The first depends on the players' fitness and readiness, which is high pressure starting from the opposing team's penalty area, to prevent them from building attacks from the back. This approach will force Sundowns to play long balls, which will be a strength in our favor," he told WinWin.
"However, implementing this method depends on the players' readiness and prior training, as it requires significant physical effort and precise group coordination."
"The second method is for Al Ahly to start pressing from their own half, allowing Sundowns to build up the game until they reach the midfield.
"Then begin applying quick pressure and exploiting the spaces in counterattacks and crosses, which is a method that gives them the opportunity to exploit the spaces on the offensive side."
