African Giants In Shock 'Negotiations' With Ramos

African Giants In Shock 'Negotiations' With Ramos

Sergio Ramos is now claimed to be in shock negotiations with one of the biggest clubs on the African continent.

The 38-year-old is likely to have a case for being the greatest defender of all time.

The Spaniard started his professional career with Sevilla before going on to spend 16 trophy-laden years with Real Madrid.

He called time on his career with Los Blancos in 2021, making the move to Paris Saint-Germain where he spent only two years before returning to his boyhood club Sevilla last season, leaving them upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the campaign

Despite his glittering career and much speculation linking with moves to Saudi Arabia and Brazil, Spain's record appearance-maker is still without a club following the commencement of the 2024/25 campaign.

Being a free agent, it means that Ramos is able to talk to whichever club he sees fit, and it seems a major African team has been audacious enough to try to lure him to the continent.

According to agent Omar Zaalouk, Egyptian giants Zamalek are currently in negotiations to sign the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner.

"I am responsible for several matters related to Zamalek, such as the signing of Sidy Ndiaye and Jamal Mutyaba," Zaalouk told OnTime Sports.

"Ali Hisham Nasr, the club's marketing official, contacted me about the possibility of negotiating with Sergio Ramos.

"I reached out to Sergio Ramos' brother, Rene, who is also his agent, to negotiate a transfer to Zamalek.

"Ramos did not object to playing in the Egyptian Premier League.

"The talks haven't ended, but negotiations have been temporarily put on hold until the end of the CAF Super Cup.

"Zamalek made an official offer to sign Ramos, but he requested a higher financial amount than what was offered, so we are trying to reach a middle ground.

"For the record, the financial difference isn't large, and the chances of completing the deal are 50-50.

"I don't know if Zamalek will handle the deal alone or if businesspeople who love the club will get involved, but for now, the deal isn't closed, and it's very possible it could be completed after the Super Cup."
