This past weekend, the Blood and Gold made the journey to Casablanca, a city where, up until that point, they had been unbeaten against both Wydad and Raja Club Athletic.
On this occasion, they arrived to stake a claim in the African Football League final, and with their hometown of Bab Souika being only 2 000km away from the first leg's venue, the team was counting on several of their fans making the trip to the Stade Mohamed V in Morocco.
It appears that some did make the journey, but a video has since been revealed on X (formerly known as Twitter) showing a bus full of the Esperance faithful seemingly being attacked by Moroccans.
Did this really happen to fans of #Taraji, @ESTunis1919, in Casablanca, ahead of their #AFL semi-final against @WACofficiel? ?? What has @CAF_Online got to say about this situation? pic.twitter.com/3zadASVBXE

The Guardian's Osasu Obayiuwana has since revealed that he has spoken to an official from the Tunisian outfit, who told him: "I don't understand that two or three kilometers from the airport, there are no police officers in Casa.
"They broke a window and threw a flare inside the bus to force them (the fans) to open the door and go out... six passports and some personal effects were stolen... Not only fans (were victims). A civil servant too and his children. Cowards... They attacked us, put in a very difficult situation with our supporters who made the effort to be exemplary against Mazembe. How to avoid reprisals? We didn't need it."

The club official added: "We made an official complaint. No answer yet but what can they do? I sincerely can't blame CAF or AFL for this…"
