Top European Giants 'Sends' Scouts To AFCON

One of Europe's biggest clubs has reportedly sent several scouts to the Africa Cup of Nations to monitor prominent talent at the tournament.

The European tranfer window is currently open, as a number of clubs are looking to reinforce their squads, while other are monitoring talent for the future.

AFCON presents a pool of talent for many potential suitors, as well-established stars like Victor Osimhen of Nigeria looks to leave a lasting impression for his admirers, while rising stars like Senegal's 20-year-old sensation Lamine Camara is already making headlines after netting a brace for the tournament's defending champions.

As such, various scouts have descended to the host nation Ivory Coast in search of potential signings.

According to Spanish Defense Central, Real Madrid chief scout Juni Calafat has sent several scouts to track talent at Africa's flagship showpiece.

Calafat, who won the GlobeSoccer 2022 Scou of the Year award, is known to have identified and brought the likes and Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Fede Valverde to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The report claims that Real's scouting department does not only limit their search for talent to just South America and Europe. Their radar extends across the world, as it is noted that they club have previously identified Japanese attacker Takefusa Kubo, who is now shinning at Real Sociedad.

It is further suggested that the Madrid outfit have not ruled out the possibility of signings some of the most distinguished players at AFCON this year.

Although the clubs boasts several players in their current squad who have Africa roots, only about 10 African stars have represented the club in the past, including Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Emmanuel Adebayo (Togo), Michael Essien (Ghana), and Samuel Eto'o (Cameroon).
