Andre Onana: I Have A Lot To Say But...

With Cameroon having dropped points in their opening game of the Africa Cup of Nations without Andre Onana in goal, the goalkeeper has now remarked that he has "a lot to say."

The Indomitable Lions were held to a 1-1 draw with Guinea on Monday night, as the two sides got their tournament underway.

Both teams were without some key players, as Guinea were missed their playmaker Naby Keita, while Rigobert Song's side played the match without their talisman Vincent Aboubakar and most notably their no.1 goalkeeper.

Onana was not included in the matchday squad due to his late arrival in the national team after he featured for Manchester United against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

Footage of Onana pre-match showed the goalkeeper engaged in a discussion with Diouf, with reports suggesting that the former striker had to intervene to calm the Cameroon star down after being left out of the squad entirely.

The 27-year-old is believed to have been granted permission to join up with his compatriots late, however, the decision has drawn questions about the shot-stopper's commitment to his country.

The former Ajax Amsterdam star spoke to the press on Monday, insisting he had a lot on his chest.

He told Canal Plus: "I have a lot to say but I won't say it here because we are in competition. The most important thing is sacred union. We are here to win the AFCON.

"I ask the supporters to support us in good times and bad […] I am one of the leaders so I take my responsibilities and that is why I am here.

"I don't want people to criticize the youngest. Let people continue to criticize me, I'm used to it, I do what is good for my country."

Asked about his club and national team situation, Onana explained: "It's like choosing between my father and my mother, but my country comes first, that's why I'm here… We're together."
