With Patrice Motsepe unable to provide an exact date as to when the next Africa Cup of Nations will be held, a date as to when this will be decided has reportedly been revealed.

From a commercial standpoint, it is hard to argue against the 2023 AFCON being a great success.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) managed to accrue a record number of international broadcasters to televise the competition, with Motsepe stating that more than two billion people tuned into the competition.
During that same press conference, however, when asked when the next continental showpiece would be held, the South African executive could not give a definitive answer, leaving many to speculate on his behalf.
The consensus narrative has been that it would be held during the European summer of 2025, when all their club football has ceased, but now, with the expanded FIFA Club World Cup expected to be held during that time too, it appears unlikely the north African nation will be able to do so during that time frame.
The same period in 2026 is also near-impossible as that is when Mexico, Canada and the United States of America will be hosting the FIFA World Cup.
According to Dzair Tube, this has derailed Royal Moroccan Football Federation president Faouzi Lekjaa's plan to host the continental showpiece during the 2025 off-season, and in time for the country to prepare their five remaining stadiums for the competition.

While a date for the next AFCON is yet to be confirmed, the same report claims that the CAF hierarchy will decide when it will be held when they convene for the next General Assembly meeting, which is scheduled to be held in either May or June later this year.
