CAF have officially announced the Team of the 2017 AFCON, snubbing the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Riyad Mahrez after their teams got eliminated in the group stages.

Mahrez's Algeria and Aubameyang's Gabon were among the major disappointments during the tournament and hardly anyone expected them to appear in the Team of the Tournament, despite both scoring two goals.
Cameroon, who lifted the trophy after coming back from a 1-0 down to beat Egypt 2-1 in the final, have three players in the Team of the Tournament, as announced by CAF.
Goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa, defender Michael Ngadeu as well as Player of the Tournament Christian Bassogog made the 2017 AFCON XI.
Runner-ups Egypt have with Ahmed Hegazy and Mohamed Salah two representatives – as many as fourth-placed Ghana with Daniel Amartey and Christian Atsu.
Burkina Faso finished the tournament in third spot after beating Ghana 1-0 thanks to a stunner by Bertrand Traore and he was named in the 2017 AFCON XI, alongside his teammate Charles Kabore.
Senegal's Modou Kara Mbodji and Junior Kabananga, who was the tournament's top goalscorer with three goals, complete the official Team of the Tournament.

Runner-ups Egypt, who lost their first game at an African Cup of Nations after going 24 consecutive games unbeaten – a run dating back to 2004 – received the Fair Play prize.
