The group stage of AFCON 2017 is now over and many of the tournament's biggest stars, including the 2016 and 2015 African Players of the Year as well as 11 of the 13 PSL players who took part, have already been knocked out.

Algeria, built around Africa's Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez, were one of the biggest casualties in the group stage. The fifth highest placed African nation in the FIFA rankings disappointed, having collected just two points in Group B.
Zimbabwe's Warriors, including PSL stars Khama Billiat, Willard Katsande and Tendai Ndoro, were also sent packing in Group B after a disappointing campaign, which began without their new kit and ended with just one point.
Hosts Gabon placed much of their hopes on reach the knockout stage on captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's shoulders, but the 2015 African Player of the Year could not prevent his side from the blushes of elimination – becoming the first host nation to be knocked out in the group stage since 1994.
AFCON 2014 winners Ivory Coast, whose team featured stars such as Manchester Unite defender Eric Bailly, Paris Saint-Germain right back Serge Aurier and former England U21 forward Wilfried Zaha, also failed to win a single game and were sent packing in Group C.
Denis Onyango may have been crowned Africa's Player of the Year based in Africa, but he could not prevent Uganda from being the first team to be knocked out after just two group-stage games in Group D.
He is one of 11 PSL stars who have left the tournament before the knockout stage, with Edwin Gyimah (Orlando Pirates and Ghana) and Issouf Paro (Santos and Burkina Faso) the last two PSL men standing in the competition.
