Africa Cup of Nations - Group C
Result: Cameroon 0-0 Gabon
Date: 22 January 2017
Venue: Stade d'Angondje
Cameroon advanced to the knockout stages of the AFCON, after playing out a 0-0 draw with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Gabon, who were eliminated.
Aubameyang should have broken the deadlock after three minutes, as the Borussia Dortmund strike sent the ball wide from three-yards out.
The Indomitable Lions had a chance of their own after 14 minutes as Adolphe Teikeu headed wide inches wide of the upright.
Fabrice Ondoa came to Cameroon's rescue after 20 minutes, as he produced a fine finger-tip save to keep out Bouanga's over hit cross.
There was a good tempo the opening 45 minutes, but the chances dried up as the half went on, with score remaining goalless at the break.
Both nations had chances in the opening 15 minutes of the second half, as Cameroon's Sebastien Siani fired just wide from distance, before Ondoa did well keep out Bouanga's free-kick.
With both sides struggling to get a goal, changes had to be made as Jaques Zoua replaced Edgar Salli for Cameroon, while Gabon introduced Samson Mbingui replaced Malick Evouna.
Cameroon were quite content with a draw and showed no real urgency in attack, which affected the flow of the encounter.
However, neither side could break the deadlock in the closing stages, meaning Cameroon progressed to the quarterfinals, while Gabon bow out of the tournament.
