Robert Sanchez, Tosin Adarabioyo, Felipe Caicedo and Cole Palmer were the only players to keep their spot in the Blues' starting line-up following Thursday's UEFA Conference League action.
After a quiet start, the Blues were awarded a penalty in the 18th minute when Victor Kristiansen brought Jadon Sancho down in the box. Cole Palmer stepped but saw his spot-kick brilliantly saved by Mads Hermansen.
That was also the first Palmer missed a penalty for the Blues since he joined last season, having scored his 12 for the club.
Leicester were roared on by the saved penalty and went close to getting the opening goal after 30 minutes Chelsea's Adarabioyo saw his attempted headed clearance crash against his own crossbar by Levi Colwill cleared the danger.
Hermansen came to the visitors' rescue one again just before the halftime break, this time pulling off a great reaction save to keep out Christopher Nkunku's effort in the box.
However, Chelsea eventually broke the deadlock on the hour mark as Marc Cucurella was afforded the time and space to send a powerful strike into the bottom corner for his fourth goal of the campaign.
Enzo Maresca opted for a double change with 20 minutes left on the clock as the quiet Palmer and Wesley Fofana made way for Tyrique George and Trevoh Chalobah.
There was not a lot of goal-mouth action in the latter stages of the second half as the Blues were able to se out the closing and move back into the top four.
