Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly set to battle for one of Africa's most prolific forwards.
Given his current form, Mohamed Salah is perhaps the most in-form player from the African continent at the moment. The Egyptian attacker is spearheading a Liverpool attack that looks to be in serious contention for both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League. However, while Salah has been lighting it up in England, another African forward has also been in sensational form.
At the start of the season, Victor Osimhen completed a loan move to Galatasaray, and since arriving in the Turkish capital, the Nigerian has been finding the back of the net with regularity. The Lagos native has scored 22 goals and provided five assists in the 28 matches he has played in all competitions, and it seems some major Premier League teams are keen on luring him to the English top flight.
Last week, reports emerged that the Red Devils were extremely keen on signing the Nigerian goalscorer. However, Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, as per CaughtOffside, has now revealed that the Gunners may have stolen a march on their rivals.
Both sides are in desperate need of a rejuvenation of their forward line at the end of the season, and with Osimhen seemingly destined to leave Napoli permanently, Arsenal and United are looking to trigger his reported release clause.
Plenty of other forwards have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with players such as Dušan Vlahovic, Benjamin Sesko, and Alexander Isak touted as possible targets for Mikel Arteta. However, it seems Arteta may look to the 2023 CAF Men's Player of the Year as his marquee forward acquisition ahead of next season.
