The first knockout round of Africa's premier club competition is a month away from commencing, and a number of star players will be looking to make an indelible mark on this season's iteration of the tournament.
The Champions League has been a tournament that has served as a springboard for players to make the move to major European leagues, so many clubs from the UEFA region will be keeping close tabs on prominent players from each of the remaining clubs.
A player who will likely be looking to return to Europe is Al Ahly's Emam Ashour. The Egypt international returned to his native country from Danish giants FC Midtjylland last season and has seen his value rise ever since, according to Transfermarkt, as he is now valued at €3.5 million (R67.2 million).
This season, the attacking midfielder has scored four goals and provided one assist in the Champions League. Ahly will always be categorised as a favourite to win the competition, and another team in the same bracket will be Mamelodi Sundowns.
Although they last made the competition final in 2016, Ka Bo Yellow have reached the semi-finals at least in the last two seasons. If they are to go one step further, a player who will need to be playing at his best is Chilean midfielder Marcelo Allende. The 26-year-old is the highest-valued player for the Tshwane-based side, as his supposed price tag is sitting at €2.3 million (R44.1 million). Teboho Mokoena is tied with the South American as the club's most valuable players.
Below is a list of the most valuable players from each of the CAF Champions League quarterfinalists, as per Transfermarkt:
The one-capped international has been an ever-present for Masandawana since arriving in 2022 and will be looking to add continental silverware to what is shaping up to be a big trophy haul since arriving in South Africa.
Sundowns' opponents in the quarter-finals will be four-time tournament winners Espérance Sportive de Tunis in what is a rematch of last season's semi-finals. This season, the Tunisian giants have been in good form both domestically and continentally, and that is in large part due to their Algerian winger Youcef Belaili.

Including goal contributions from the preliminary rounds, no other player has been involved in more goals in the Champions League than the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations winner, as he has scored seven goals and provided eight assists in the eight matches he has played thus far in the competition. Fresh from arriving from MC Alger at the start of the season, Belaïli is valued at €1.8 million (R34.5 million).
