Mogashoa On Sekgota: 'He Needs Tough Love'

Mogashoa On Sekgota: 'He Needs Tough Love'

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgola is looking to make a comeback and he is currently in an environment where he has a chairman that cares deeply for him.

Released by Betway Premiership rookies Magesi FC during the January transfer window, the 27-year-old has not lived up to the potential displayed while he was at Bidvest Wits and Swallows FC. A move to Kaizer Chiefs was meant to take his career to the next level, but that was not the case for the player who was just unable to crack it at Naturena.

Stellenbosch FC gave him an opportunity to bounce back after Amakhosi let him go, but his time was cut short when the Cape Winelands club terminated his contract, for alleged off the field behaviour.

His time at Magesi, a club he joined before the start of this season, was also brief as they let him go last month. The winger is now training with Upington City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, with the hope of signing a deal.

In chairman David Mogashoa, Sekgota has someone who genuinely cares about his wellbeing. But this does not automatically mean he will be signed. The player has to prove himself, meaning he has to work hard to earn a deal with the club.

"Sekgota is someone who needs someone to believe in him. He is with us at Upington. Where he is now he needs tough love. I know what he is capable of," Mogashoa said to the Siya crew.

"I will go as far as to say the last time Sekgota played football was at Swallows and he struggled from then on. He is doing well. I think he did well by contacting me when they terminated him at Magesi. He has not signed yet, but I still want him to work hard to prove that we should sign him

"We don't just sign. He needs to prove that he belongs. But I do love the boy. He needs to be shown love. He will come back."

Upington City have a squad of experienced players such as Jabulani Shongwe, Thato Mokeke, Kyle Peters and Tlotlo Leepile while Sekgota would add value if he were to be signed and finds good form.
