Shandre Campbell will have to wait for his UEFA Champions League debut as the youngster has been omitted from Club Brugge's official matchday squad ahead of their latest encounter.

It has been six years since a player from South Africa competed in Europe's premier club competition, with Percy Tau being the last to grace the tournament.
Ironically, Tau also did so for Brugge, but on that occasion, the Belgian outfit suffered a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid. While the winger was a prominent part of that iteration of the Jupiler Pro League side, Campbell is still in the formative stages of his time with FCB.
The 19-year-old made the move to Brugge at the beginning of the season, but so far, he has only played for their second-division side, Club NXT.
Earlier this month, however, Campbell was called up to the first team, as he was even an unused substitute during a 1-0 win over Oud-Heverlee Leuven this past weekend.
While the teenager has been registered as part of Brugge's squad for the knockout stages of the Champions League, he may need to wait a bit longer to make his first appearance for the club, as he has not been included in head coach Nicky Hayen's 23-man squad for their play-off first leg against Atalanta.

Speaking in the media recently, the player's agent, Mike Makaab, revealed that Campbell will be alternating between the first team and Club NXT for the remainder of the season but that he will not be training with Hayen's charges full-time. Perhaps we could see him play in the second leg of the encounter.
