A Premier League side are reportedly angry with Arsenal after it was revealed that the North London were pushing to sign one of their star players.
According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa are irritated with the Gunners because it became public knowledge that the 13-time English champions had placed a bid for their talisman, Ollie Watkins, ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League encounter against Celtic.
Mikel Arteta has been vocal about the club's desire to recruit a striker during this transfer window following the long-term injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.
Plenty of names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium throughout this mid-season transfer window, but on Wednesday night, news broke that the English juggernauts had placed a £60 million (R1.3 billion) bid for the England international, which was swiftly rejected.
Arsenal are expected to return with an improved offer soon, but it seems the Villans are resolute in their stance of not letting go of their top goalscorer, especially considering that their other striker, Jhon Duran, is expected to leave the club to join Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
Villa boss Unai Emery emphasised that he did not want to let go of Watkins to his former club or any club that may be interested in buying him.
"I don't want [to sell]. It is good news to have offers from other clubs. We want to keep our sporting objective through the players we have in the squad," he said after their 4-2 win over Celtic.
"Every player can be in the market if it is good for the player and the club. To get this deal, we are going to be demanding. Watkins is our striker."
