Fernandes has only been in London since January 2023 following his £106million move from Portuguese giants Benfica after impressing for Argentina at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The report adds that Los Blancos are even willing to offer French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as part of the deal, with the player not enjoying the best of form in Spain.
Tchouameni has not been a regular under coach Carlo Ancelotti this season and is reportedly unsatisfied with his role this term, which includes playing as a centre-back due to the club's injury woes.
The French midfielder has racked up 113 appearances for Los Blancos in the last three years, while winning the UEFA Champions League, LALIGA and the UEFA Super Cup.
