Vini Jr To Surpass Neymar As Most Expensive Ever Player?

Amid reports of a Saudi Arabian side plotting a massive offer for Vinicius Junior, the Brazilian star could reportedly surpass his compatriot Neymar as the most expensive footballer of all time.

Real Madrid's Brazilian talisman has managed to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo as the club's newest superstar number seven.

In the last two UEFA Champions League finals that the club had participated in, it has been the 24-year-old who has scored the winning goals as he has helped Los Blancos continue their historic legacy on the European continent.

However, Vinicius' prominence at the Santiago Bernabeu seems to be coming under threat. The arrival of Kylian Mbappe and persistent issues within LALIGA have threatened to undermine his stature at the club and it seems that the Saudi Pro League are eager to take advantage of the situation.

According to GiveMeSport, the Public Investment Fund in the oil-rich kingdom is plotting a world-record €350 million (R6.7 billion) bid for the 2024 Ballon d'Or runner up.

Currently, his international teammate Neymar has the honour of being football's most expensive ever player after Paris Saint-Germain paid Barcelona €222 million (R4.8 billion) for the winger in 2017, but Vinicius could be following in the footsteps of the 32-year-old soon enough with the PIF keen to recruit him.

It was reported that the Real Madrid player received an offer of €1 Billion (R19.3 billion) to head to the Middle East, but he decided to reject it to continue wearing the white jersey

With Ronaldo at Al Nassr, Karim Benzema at Al Ittihad and Neymar currently at Al Hilal, the same report claims that the Saudi chiefs envisage Pitso Mosimane's former side, Al Ahli, as the best side for the Sao Goncalo native to join.

It remains to be seen how receptive Vinicius may be to leaving the Spanish capital, but it looks as though the Royals are determined to test his and Los Merengues' resolve come the end of the season.
