The head coach of Qatar SC has thanked the club's hierarchy for bringing in a player of Percy Tau's quality.

Earlier this week, the South African winger completed his move to the Qatar Stars League after leaving Al Ahly. The Witbank native had spent the last three and a half years plying his trade for the record African champions, amassing a total of 11 trophies during that time. He was even crowned the 2023 CAF Interclubs Player of the Year during his stint in the Egyptian capital.
However, over the last two seasons, Tau's prominence within the Ahly setup had waned, as he was no longer an undisputed starter under Marcel Koller.
While the Swiss tactician decided that Tau's services were now surplus to requirements, Qatar SC's head coach Youssef Safri is elated to have a player of the Bafana Bafana star's calibre among their ranks.
"I thank the club's management for signing a great player like Percy Tau," the Moroccan tactician said in his pre-match press conference, as per Kooora.
"Everyone knows his importance and capabilities, and he does not need to adapt, especially since he plays among distinguished players, such as Javi Martinez and Badr Banoun.
"This is the best time to sign a player like Percy, he is a big name and will have an impact tomorrow."
It seems as though the 30-year-old will play a role in his new side's Qatar-UAE Super Cup matchup against Al-Nasr Dubai, and Safri says that his charges have prepared adequately for the game.
"We studied our competitor, and they have more than one strength in midfield and attack, and they are one of the most popular teams in the Emirates," he added.

"We are well aware of the history of Al-Nasr, but we are able to achieve victory, because the Qatari team has a distinguished group of players with high technical skills."
