Sudanese giants Al-Merrikh recently decided to part ways with Italian tactician Giovanni Solinas.
The 56-year-old took charge of the Glowing Reds at the start of the season, but according to WinWin, the club's recent poor form in the Mauritanian top flight, coupled with constant clashes with the top brass, ultimately led to his dismissal.
Solinas, who was Chiefs head coach in 2018, has now been replaced by a tactician who coached on the opposite side of the Soweto Derby, as Milutin Sredojevic has succeeded his Italian counterpart at Al-Merrikh.
The Serbian has extensive experience coaching on the African continent but has been without a managerial job since leaving the Libyan national team in September 2024. Now, for the first time in just over five years, Sredojevic will return to coach a club on the African continent, with his last club position being at Zamalek at the end of 2019.
The Prokuplje native has been contracted for a year and a half and has arrived at the home of the Red Devils with his assistant Dusan Snjatovic, physical trainer Frank Blin, and Algerian Moussa Bahelil as performance analyst.
