The Siya crew reported this morning of Cardoso possibly joining Sundowns and it was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon at Chloorkop, in the presence of chairman Tlhopie Motsepe and sporting director Flemming Berg.
As previously reported by the Siya crew, Manqoba Mngqithi's job as head coach at Sundowns was on the line, with the club struggling in the knockout competitions.
Despite being top of the Betway Premiership table, Mngqithi has been under immense pressure from the MTN8 when they were knocked out by Stellenbosch FC in the semi-finals.
He had an opportunity to redeem himself in the Carling Knockout, but rookies Magesi FC taught Sundowns a lesson in the final, as the Limpopo outfit came from a goal down to record one of the biggest upsets in PSL history.

The slow start in the CAF Champions League group stages did not help in Mngqithi's cause, with two draws in the first two matches, against Maniema Union and AS FAR.
As a result, Manqoba Mngqithi, Romain Folz and Wendell Robinson have now parted ways with Sundowns.
