Mudau's English Suitors Unveiled

Mudau's English Suitors Unveiled

Insiders close to Mamelodi Sundowns and defender Khuliso Mudau have now revealed the name of the English club reportedly interested in the Bafana Bafana star.

Soccer Laduma had first reported how a new English club was monitoring Mudau's progress, after Burnley FC were previously linked to him.

Now, Siya sources have indicated that Leeds United, a club from England's Championship, are believed to have expressed interest in the Sundowns right-back.

This follows previous reports by the Siya crew about interest from the likes of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, which was most probably because head coach Vincent Kompany was previously in charge of Burnley.

South African players such as Lucas Radebe and the late Phil Masinga had played for Leeds in the past when they were a strong Premier League side. Radebe is well-known as a legend of the club, having participated in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup with Leeds. In those years, with Radebe an important player in Leeds' backline, they used to compete for the league title.

After getting relegated in 2004 during a financial crisis, Leeds then eventually returned to the top flight but got relegated again in 2022-23.

"You know Leeds United have always had scouts looking at South African players and this time around they are monitoring Mamelodi Sundowns defender Khuliso Mudau. Actually they have inquired about him as they have interest in him. It's not like there is a deal at the moment. No. But they have shown interest in him. That I can tell you," the Siya source stated.

A second insider highlighted that interest in Mudau from other clubs in Europe remains strong too.

"Yes, the interest from Bayern Munich and Burnley FC is still there. But it's believed that they are not the only clubs inquiring about him or monitoring him as there are other clubs even in Africa but Sundowns have indicated that he won't go cheap or easily as they still value him highly," the second insider stated.

The 29-year-old former Black Leopards right-back has missed a few games for Sundowns in the league this season but is a regular fixture for Bafana Bafana.

His contract with the Brazilians is reportedly set to run until June 2025. As Mudau attracts attention from clubs across Europe and beyond, Sundowns face a decision about the future of their valued defender. With a contract extending until 2025, any potential move will require careful negotiation, reflecting Mudau's growing reputation on the international stage.
