Messi is set to make a highly anticipated return to Barcelona for the club's 125th-anniversary celebrations, following a personal invitation from president Joan Laporta.
According to Catalunya Radio's Tot Costa, Laporta is looking to mend past differences and has extended a heartfelt invite to the Argentine icon to attend the festivities at the prestigious Liceu Theatre on November 29.
The event will be attended by numerous Barcelona legends, including Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Pep Guardiola, among others.
The report suggests that Messi is likely to attend the celebration, marking his first return to the club since his departure, even though he missed Iniesta's retirement event last month due to his national team commitments.
Barcelona will also welcome former manager Louis van Gaal to the ceremony, which could see Messi come face to face with the former Netherlands coach for the first time since their dramatic encounter during the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-final clash between Argentina and the Netherlands in Qatar.
This marks an emotional and significant moment in Barcelona's history, as the club prepares to celebrate a milestone year with one of their greatest-ever players in attendance.
