While the Sky Blues may be enduring their worst run of form since 2006, the most pressing matter at the Etihad Stadium appears to be Guardiola's future at the club.
The 53-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the Citizens, and there has yet to be any indication as to whether he will prolong his stay with the English champions, leave to coach an international side or take another sabbatical.
One of Guardiola's trusted allies at the club, and current sporting director Txiki Begiristain, will be leaving at the end of the season, which has only fuelled speculation surrounding the manager's future.
The chiefs at City's training ground are not pressing the Spaniard for an immediate answer regarding his future at the moment. However, according to Relevo, they expect the former Barcelona boss to make a decision by 26 December 2024.
To replace Begiristain, the club have appointed current Sporting CP director of football Hugo Viana. Should Guardiola decide to call time on his future at City, Viana will also be tasked with finding a new manager for the club.
However, the head coach is not the only individual with an expiring contract at City. Star midfielders Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne are just over six months away from becoming free agents.

While their contracts will also be significant priorities, the Premier League outfit will likely look to resolve Guardiola's situation before focusing on squad incomings and departures.
