The Catalan giants' president, Joan Laporta, is determined to re-open the revamped Camp Nou and boost his chances of re-election by making a marquee signing. The club are understood to be looking for a successor to Robert Lewandowski.
The Pole has been in prolific form this season, finding the back of the net 19 times in the 17 matches he has played in all competitions.
While he is still illustrating that he is among the best forwards in world football at 36, the Blaugrana want to be proactive in recruiting his successor, and it is believed that the club want Erling Haaland.
Given that the club are still not in the best financial situation, that operation will likely prove difficult to execute. Their second option is Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres, but with the Swedish marksman attracting multiple suitors, the Catalan giants may very well be priced out of that potential deal too.
According to Sport, it is for these reasons that Barca have now turned their attention to Egyptian attacker Omar Marmoush. The Eintracht Frankfurt man has been on a tear for his club in all competitions, amassing 14 goals and 10 assists in 16 matches.
The same report claims that Barca most appreciate his versatility along with his other qualities. In addition to playing as a striker, he is also able to be utilised on the left wing, a position that the La Liga leaders have been actively trying to reinforce.

It is rumoured that the Bundesliga outfit expect €45 million (R864 million) for the Cairo native, a figure which is deemed acceptable by Barca's chiefs.
