The German tactician enjoyed a brilliant campaign during the 2023/24 season as he led Raja Club Athletic to an extraordinary unbeaten run, winning the Botola Pro Inwi and the Moroccan Throne Cup without suffering defeat.
His success in Casablanca caught the attention of teams in Saudi Arabia, mainly Al Wehda. The Knights of Mecca successfully lured the Schwandorf native away from the Green Eagles, but while he made history with the North African giants, his success has yet to translate in the oil-rich kingdom.
Zinnbauer has only managed to win one match in the league out of the nine he has taken charge of, and according to Al-Madina, the Makkah-based side are planning to fire the 54-year-old and replace him with Saad Al-Shehri.
Al-Shehri has been relatively successful with the Saudi Arabia under-23 side, and is now poised to take over a senior club for the first time since he was in charge of Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq between 2017 and 2018.
It remains to be seen when the club will officially part ways with the former Orlando Pirates head coach. If it happens in the coming days, it will mark the end of a brief tenure in the Gulf for Zinnbauer. He has recently been linked with clubs like AS FAR Rabat and his former side Raja.

Given what he accomplished with the three-time African champions last season, his reputation on the African continent remains high, and he will likely be a candidate should an African giant decide they need a new manager in the near future.
