During the entirety of last season, Los Merengues lost only two matches in all competitions. Following their 3-1 defeat to AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening, the Spanish giants have now already lost three matches.
After the match, Carlo Ancelotti was quizzed on whether his dressing room was still harmonious after successive defeats to Barcelona and I Rossoneri. He responded by saying that the dynamics are still healthy, though there are conflicting reports emerging from the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to The Athletic, since the retirement of Toni Kroos and the injury to Dani Carvajal, there has been a lack of personality among those remaining in the locker room.
A tension-laden atmosphere has consequently grown because of bad results. Players were cutting frustrated figures against the Italian giants, as Milan managed to win away to Real for the first time in 15 years.
While Ancelotti did claim that team chemistry has not suffered, he express concern about how the team have been conceding goals so easily.
"We had a lot of chances. The problem for me isn't that," the 65-year-old said, as per Goal.
"Probably we lacked being clinical, but the main problem we have to fix is how easily our opponents are creating opportunities.
"We should be worried because the team isn't playing well. We have to be more solid, more compact. We've conceded a lot of goals.
"The reality is what you see on the pitch, which is that we're missing something. Worry in these moments is normal. It will be a long night, but that's what we have to do, think, all of us, about improving things.
