The reason why Percy Tau is unlikely to make the controversial switch from Al Ahly to Zamalek has reportedly been revealed.

The South African winger's current deal with the Club of the Century is set to expire at the end of the year.
Tau has been a prominent figure for the north African giants since signing from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2021, scoring 29 goals and providing 13 assists in the 115 appearances he has made for the club.
He has coupled his goal contributions with 11 titles for the Egyptian juggernauts, but, with the end of his contract nearing, it seems that he could be calling time on his career with Ahly come the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
There have been rumours suggesting that the Red Devils' eternal rivals Zamalek are serious suitors for the Bafana Bafana man once he becomes a free agent, but according to El Watan, the White Knights have a few reasons why they are unlikely to pursue the 46-capped international.
One of them is that it is believed that the Witbank native wants to sign a contract which will see him earn $1.2 million (R20.9 million) a season, but perhaps the biggest stumbling block is the fact that Tau plays in the same position as their talisman Zizo.

The 28-year-old Egyptian scored 13 goals and provided nine assist for Zamalek last season, helping them clinch the CAF Confederation Cup. The attacker has even been nominated for the 2024 Interclub Player of the Year and it seems that the club do not want to destablize the harmony in the dressing room by bringing in Tau.
