Elias Mokwana's transfer fee from Sekhukhune United, combined with his poor form, are reportedly factors in why Esperance de Tunis have sacked their manager.

This past off-season, the Bafana Bafana star completed a high-profile move to the north Africans following his performances for Babina Noko and the national team during the 2023/24 campaign.
While many would have expected the 25-year-old to continue his ascendance on the African stage, he is yet to hit top form in Tunis.
Mokwana is yet to start any of the Blood and Gold's matches across all competitions this season, managing to bag one assist in the four matches he has featured in for his new club so far.
The four-time CAF Champions League winners have now officially parted ways with their head coach Miguel Cardoso, and according to WinWin, Mokwana's lack of prominence and hefty price tag indirectly factored into the club's decision to sack the ex-Celta Vigo manager.
The same report claims it was the Portuguese tactician who insisted that the Taraji sign Mokwana, but given that the club is believed to have paid more than $380 000 (R6.6 million) for his signature and his inability to establish himself at the club so far, this contributed to their hierarchy losing faith in the Famalicao native.

Frontrunners for the recently vacated position are yet to have emerged, but Mokwana will likely be hoping a new managerial appointment will coincide with a resurgence in his form at club level.
