Nabi Sets His Own Chiefs 'Mandate'

Nabi Sets His Own Chiefs 'Mandate'

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is aiming high with the team after he had seemingly set a target for himself on what he wants to achieve for the season.

With Chiefs having started the season well and winning matches, the Tunisian tactician recently bolstered his technical team with another sharp mind in Cedric Kaze whom he has reunited with as his assistant to signal his intensions on taking the Soweto giants to another level.

Going into their second successive match against SuperSport United in a space of a week, this weekend, Amakhosi are oozing with confidence after defeating the Tshwane giants 4-0 in their Carling Knockout Cup clash on Saturday.

While the aim for Nabi for his first season in charge in on the rebuilding process, the tactician has been clear about not intending to hide behind that project but will be keen on leading the side to quality performances and results to compete for every trophy on offer.

Chiefs have experienced a nine-year trophy drought which was made worse by the team's 10th place finish at the end of last season under Cavin Johnson, and Nabi is out to right the wrongs that have been made over the years.

The highly rated coach is said to be targeting a Top Three finish as the foundation to building Chiefs into a championship-chasing team again.

"Nasreddine Nabi is naturally a winner, and he doesn't like to settle for second best. So, in him Chiefs have the right person to lead the club to the right direction. As much as his task for this season is to build the team and restore a winning mentality, he will still be chasing for honours. He is targeting a Top Three finish this season as the first step towards getting closer to challenging for the League," said the source.

Chiefs are 6th on the Betway Premiership standings with two wins in three matches going into their next fixture at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
