Khanye: Chiefs Should Try Someone Else

Khanye: Chiefs Should Try Someone Else

As Kaizer Chiefs will be aiming for consistency when the season resumes this coming weekend with cup action, the team has been advised on the key area to consider making a change in as coach Nasreddine Nabi is still working on finding his perfect combinations.

Chiefs will be away to SuperSport United in a game to be played at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening in the Carling Knockout.

Amakhosi come from morale-boosting victory in the CUFA Cup on Sunday where they defeated Marumo Gallants 4-3 in the penalty shootouts to lift the trophy following a goalless draw in regulation time.

Bruce Bvuma, who played most games for Chiefs last season, emerged as the hero in the penalty shootout after making two saves.

While Nabi expressed concerns about the team missing scoring opportunities and questioned lack of winning mentality after the Gallants win, former star Junior Khanye suggests that the Soweto giants should also consider making a change in goalkeeping.

So far this season, Fiacre Ntwari has played in all three Betway Premiership games for Chiefs, conceding four goals – one in each of the fixtures against Gallants and AmaZulu, as well as two against champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

"In the goalkeeping department, Chiefs should try someone else. Yes, the coach can start with his team that has been playing and make the substitutions as he has been doing, but in the goalkeeping department he must try to change. But the start to the season has been good as the team won two games, with their only loss being that one against Sundowns. Obviously, in that game the referee made a blunder, but I would like to see a change in goalkeeping," said Khanye, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

With Ntwari on national team duty during this FIFA international week, Brandon Peterson was on the substitutes bench against Gallants.

Meanwhile, Ntwari was in goal for Rwanda as they lost 3-0 against Benin in Abidjan on Friday in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Their next game is tomorrow in Kigali, before the 25-year-old comes back looking to keep his place as Amakhosi's number one.
