The president of Brazil has shockingly called for the European-based players to be banned from the national team after the recent struggles.
Selecao have had a disappointing couple years after their disappointing exits at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2024 Copa America, where they were knocked out at the quarter-final stage in both competitions.

Brazil are currently battling in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which has seen the team claim just two wins from their last five matches.
Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has now called on Brazil Football Federation to look on the local scene for fresh talent in the squad.
"Those who are abroad are not better than those here," President Lula said.
"In Brazil, there are good players of the same quality (as those abroad), so give opportunities to those who are here."
Of the 23 players called up by new Selecao head coach Dorival Junior this month, seven of the players ply their trade in the Brazilian top-flight.
The five-time world champions will be back in action on Wednesday against Peru.
