The right-back has less than a year remaining on his deal at the Reds, whom he has made 316 appearances for since breaking into the senior team.
The 25-year-old is rumoured to be admired by 15-time UEFA Champions League winners Los Blancos as Alexander-Arnold's future at his boyhood club hangs in the balance.
Following Liverpool's win over Bournemouth in the Premier League on the weekend, the England international was coy when addressing his contract situation.
"The most important thing is trophies, if I'm honest. I want to win trophies," he said, according to Goal.
"I'm a player who is highly motivated by winning things and being elite. That's probably the main factor of anything. If you have a personality that's elite, who wants to win and will do anything to win, then that's what drives them."
"Look, I have been at the club for 20 years now. I have signed four or five contract extensions and none of those have been played out in public. This one won't be either. I want to be a Liverpool player this season is what I will say."
Alexander-Arnold has contributed to 102 goals since his debut for the English giants and is considered among the best right-backs ever produced in the Premier League.
