After Lyle Foster's proposed return to the Premier League fell through, Burnley's manager has dropped a major clue that perhaps tells a different story.

The South Africa international was believed to have been of interest to Ipswich Town in the recently passed transfer window until reports suggested that the Tractor Boys eventually chose to not pursue a deal for the striker.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri claimed that the Clarets were open to selling the 24-year-old to Kieran McKenna's Ipswich, and that discussions over a potential loan with an obligation to buy were held.
Just 24 hours prior to Tavolieri's report, Burnley manager Scott Parker had stated that Foster appeared completely committed in training and admitted to being impressed with his attitude, but did not divulge more detail on his proposed EPL switch.
The ex-Monaco striker ended up staying put as no agreement with another club was reached before the window closed, with Foster having played in all five of the team's matches so far this season.
Discussing the dynamics of his squad this week, Parker spoke about the significant turnover of players after Burnley lost a number of stars to bigger clubs.
Winger Wilson Odobert departed in a €29.3 million (R578.2 million) move to Tottenham Hotspur, Sander Berge joined Fulham for €23.5 million (R463.7 million), and Dara O'Shea signed for Ipswich.
Perhaps providing insight into Foster's ordeal following reports he was close to heading back to the Premier League, Parker stated that he did not need to console anyone who did not get a move away from Burnley, saying, as per the Burnley Express: "For the ones that wanted their moves and expressed their desire for a move, ended up going really".

This could suggest Foster did not push for a move from Burnley ahead of the 2024/25 season, with Parker adding that the players he has in his group are all "relishing the challenge" the campaign will bring.
