The Manchester City playmaker appeared to be infuriated after Belgium suffered a 2-0 loss to the 2018 FIFA World Cup champions.
HLN, as cited by the Daily Mail, reports that the 33-year-old stormed off the field following his nation's poor performance, before seemingly telling the team's technical director Frank Vercauteren that he has quit the team.
De Bruyne's display of displeasure did not end there, however, as he aired his thoughts on Belgium's tactical choices in a stunning post-match interview.
Asked if France had been the better side, he replied: "Yes, that's right. There's not much to say about it."
The six-time Premier League winner then ripped into the Red Devils' lack of structure and connection in comments that bring attention to head coach Domenico Tedesco's future with the team.
"We were six at the back. There was no connection. Not even in the second half. You're behind, right?" he added.
"I wonder what you see in the match. It is not about transitions. It is about the way of playing and people who do not do their job."

Tedesco has ruffled feathers early into his tenure, with veteran goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois having said he will refuse to represent Belgium while the Italian remains in charge.
