On Thursday, Portugal defeated Croatia 2-1 in a 2024/25 UEFA Nations League encounter following goals from Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot and Al Nassr talisman Ronaldo.
The strike from the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was his 900th since turning professional, and comes after he recently stated that he wants to reach the 1 000-goal mark before he bows out of the beautiful game.
Speaking after the match, the 39-year-old said only he knows "how hard it is to work every day" to achieve this enormous milestone, while he also discussed his memorable triumphs in Portugal colours.
"Portugal winning EUROs (in 2016) is equivalent to winning a World Cup," he said, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
"I've already won two trophies for Portugal that I really wanted. I'm not motivated by that.
"I'm motivated by enjoying football and the records come naturally."
