Interim Nigeria Boss Labelled A Serial Failure

Interim Nigeria Boss Labelled A Serial Failure

An ex-Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) chief has blasted the Super Eagles' interim boss, labelling him a serial failure.

Last week, the NFF announced that Bruno Labbadia would be the permanent successor to Finidi George, becoming the 37th head coach to take the reins of the Nigeria national team.

However, just days after that statement was released, it emerged that a breakdown had occurred in negotiations and the German tactician would no longer be leading the west African giants.

This has led to the three-time African champions calling upon the services of Austin Eguavoen, who has held the same position before, to take charge of the national team on an interim basis.

However, that decision has not gone down well with some fans.

Someone who is adamantly against the return of Eguavoen, even on a temporary basis, is former technical director of the NFF, James Peter.

Peter has slammed the federation's decision to reappoint the former defender, claiming that he has failed many times before to lead the team to success.

"We are walking on a tightrope, and I don't think Eguavoen has the capacity; and at this stage, it's a hopeless situation," Peter stated on radio, as per SoccernetNigeria.

"Eguavoen is not experienced, but he just wants to be there; he's not good enough to handle the national team. He has failed many times.

"Must he fail the 10th time before they know that he cannot do it? It is an unfortunate situation, and we are not putting anybody competent enough in that place."
